Subiaco Marist Cricket Club – Club Coach or Player/Coach Role Description (2025/26 Season)
About Subiaco Marist Cricket Club (SMCC)
Based in Churchlands, Western Australia, Subiaco Marist Cricket Club (SMCC) is a vibrant community cricket club with our home grounds situated at Newman College.
We cater to a diverse range of players, including:

Cricket Blasters: For children aged 5–8 years, our program runs on Friday nights, introducing young players to the fundamentals of cricket in a fun and engaging environment we had 140 kids attend last season.

Junior Teams: Boys and girls from Year 4 to Year 12 participate in our junior cricket program, which is part of the Metropolitan Junior Community Cricket (MJCC) competition. We had 12 sides ranging from year 12- 3.

Senior Men's Teams: We field 9 senior men's teams that compete in various formats, including two-day and one-day matches on Saturdays, as well as a separate T20 competition on Sundays. We are currently in 1st grade division 1.

Overview
Subiaco Marist Cricket Club (SMCC) is seeking a dedicated and passionate Club Coach or Player/Coach to oversee the training and development of our junior(optional) and/or senior playing groups. This role is critical to driving our club’s ongoing growth, player pathways, and coaching standards. The role includes mentoring junior team coaches, facilitating structured sessions for both junior and senior players, supporting the club’s on-field performance, and potentially contributing as a senior player where appropriate.
Key Responsibilities
· • Plan and oversee structured training sessions for junior and/or senior teams during the 2025/26 cricket season.
· • Attend the club from 3:30/5 PM to 7:00/8:00 PM on designated training days.
· • (optional)Between 3:30 PM – 5:00 PM: Collaborate with and mentor junior team coaches to run effective sessions; rotate support across all junior teams on a structured schedule to ensure equal exposure to club-level coaching.
· • From 5:00 PM – 7:00/8:00 PM: Deliver high-quality training sessions for SMCC’s top senior grades and provide guidance to other grades.
· • Work alongside junior coaches to align coaching methods with the club’s player development.
· • Attend and contribute to senior team selection meetings when requested.
· • Provide periodic feedback to players and coaching staff, with a focus on skills development, performance, and participation.
· • Promote a positive and inclusive club culture that supports both participation and performance.
Desired Qualifications and Experience
· • Minimum Cricket Australia Level 1 Coaching Accreditation (Level 2 preferred).
· • Experience in coaching both junior and senior players at community or club level.
· • Strong communication, leadership, and mentoring skills.
· • Ability to work with and support volunteer coaches.
· • Availability to attend regular training sessions, match days (optional), and selection meetings.
· • Interest in contributing as a senior player in a leadership capacity (optional for player/coach applicants).

While the club’s budget for this position is currently under development, we recognise the necessity of investing in this role to support our club’s growth and ensure consistent training standards across all age groups. We encourage applicants to express their interest and availability, with remuneration to be discussed and negotiated based on experience, playing ability, and availability.
