🏏 About Junior Cricket at Subiaco Marist

At Subiaco Marist Cricket Club, our Junior Cricket program provides a welcoming,

structured pathway for boys and girls aged 9 to 17 to learn, play, and thrive

in cricket. From modified introductory formats to full competitive matches,

our junior cricket teams focus on building confidence, developing cricket skills,

and fostering teamwork in a supportive environment. Guided by experienced

and accredited coaches, players learn the fundamentals of batting, bowling,

and fielding, progressing each season towards higher levels of the game. Our program caters to all skill levels, whether your child is picking up a bat for the first time or aiming to advance into senior cricket. 🏏 Metropolitan Junior Community Cricket (MJCC)

The MJCC provides a structured competition for junior players, divided into three stages to align with players' development and age groups.

⚡ Stage 1: Years 4–5 (Approx. Ages 9–10)

  • Format:

    • 20-over matches.

    • 7 players per side on the field.

    • Modified pitch lengths and boundary sizes to suit younger players.

  • Key Features:

    • Emphasis on participation and enjoyment.

    • All players bat, bowl, and field in various positions.

    • Focus on skill development and understanding the game's basics.

  • Playing Days:

    • Matches are typically held on Sunday mornings.

⚡ Stage 2: Years 6–7 (Approx. Ages 11–12)

  • Format:

    • 20 or 30-over matches.

    • 9 players per side on the field.

    • Gradual introduction to standard cricket rules and equipment.

  • Key Features:

    • Balanced focus on participation and competition.

    • Introduction of more complex game strategies.

    • Continued emphasis on skill refinement and teamwork.

  • Playing Days:

    • Matches are typically held on Saturday mornings.

⚡ Stage 3: Years 8–12 (Approx. Ages 13–17)

  • Format:

    • 20, 30, or 40-over matches, depending on age group.

    • 11 players per side on the field.

    • Standard pitch lengths and cricket equipment used.

  • Key Features:

    • Competitive matches with a focus on performance and strategy.

    • Preparation for senior cricket levels.

    • Emphasis on advanced skill development and game awareness.

  • Playing Days:

    • Matches are typically held on Saturday & Sunday mornings.
